Feminine elegance mixed with masculine edge. This is the design philosophy of Marissa Webb (https://www.ifchic.com/115_marissa-webb). Marissa is a brilliant designer who is born in Korea and raised in the United States. She is Banana Republic’s creative advisor and have interned at Polo Ralph Lauren and worked at Donna Karan and J. Crew where she rose up from the ranks. She spent a decade at J. Crew serving in various design roles including Head of Women’s Wear and Apparel Design. Not born with a silver spoon or an influential family, Marissa worked hard to land her position in the fashion industry.
Marissa’s work ethic is admirable. When she is starting out, she is juggling school, internships, freelancing and some other jobs. She started to get involved in the industry while making her way through school. This gave her an edge to her contemporaries.
After several years of working, Marissa made her dreams come true and is now a designer of her own label. Her niche is creating pieces that are the perfect mixture of structure and flow. Of masculinity and femininity. Of neutrals and colors. Her collection embodies her persona as a young boyish girl growing up in Pennsylvania. Her clothes are elegant and edgy at the same time. They are timeless but also bold enough to incorporate contrasting and unexpected pieces without being over the top. A woman can easily incorporate these garment to her an existing wardrobe.
